Or maybe caulk. I need to add some acrylic dividers to my acrylic sump to create more sections. What type of silicon or caulk would hold the best?

Thanks.

Silicone doesn't adhere well to acrylic at all. You need to get an acrylic cement and you'll be set.

Dr. Joe,
I didnt see anything about GE2. I only saw stuff about GE1 in those threads. I just bought a tube of GE2 today to use for the bracings and partitions on the sump I am building. And I am curious if there is something stronger at home depot that is better. Or I am ok with the GE2 100% Silicone?

Sorry to barge in on the thread Alan.

GE2 from what i've seen mostly has some mildew resistant additive that is NOT fish safe. Get GE1 without the mildew resistance.

GE1 says silicone rubber and GE2 says just silicone. Is silicone rubber the same as silicone?

First off, there is silicon and then there is silicone with an 'e'.
Silicon is the element (on the periodic chart). It is a hard grayish crystalline material.
Silicone is an intentional misspelling that signifies a manufacturers formula for the silicone rubber. When a manufacturer says 100% silicone, it is not 100% silicon. For instance, the formulas that have funguscide are still labeled as 100% silicone. The funguscide is in the formula so it is still 100% silicone.

Silicone Rubber, 100% Silicone, or Silicone Caulk are all different formulas of effectively the same thing. They have their own unique properties. The same product across several different manufacturers will also have different properties because they all have their own unique formula.

You! Yeah you. You're good, you.
Always Johnny on the spot. Or Rohnny on the spot.....
Thanks for the heads up.

Looking forward to the fishin' trip this weekend. Who all is going again?

You'll be sorry for going on a fishing trip with CHOMPERS, he wants to bring everything home and put it in a tank! You could starve to death :nilly:
