That is a common name for them. It's not an actual Texas cichlid. True Texas is herichthys cyanoguttatus

They are a lot more colorful than Cyanoguttatus texas, So I guess they would generally cost more.

Not necessarily. It depends on seller and weather or not you have wild caught and some collection locations might bump up price.
