i want something to wow about, but it seems every fish i see that i would like, cant get along with what i have... what are my choices?

Considering the vast amount of african cichlids that exist, that's a pretty broad question. How about being more specific?

to be completely honest im not sure the specifics, but i can tell you that they were avg price around 7 bucks each at petsmart, all they said was they were assorted african chiclids

Thats real good information to get before buying your fish...

Maybe you should wait and see how big your fish get, and their temperaments and behaviors. Then you might be able to tell what they are and what/if they would tolerate for a tank mate. Let us know what size tank you have too, that plays a HUGE role in stocking. Typically, if you have a decent sized tank, you could keep any of the synodontis type catfish in there, but most of them grow at least 6-8" inches. So, like I said, tank size is imprtant.

I was going so say that you could keep Synodontis Multipuncatis, but they prefer to be in school and carry a huge price tag. You cant beat thier colouration though.

synodontis cats would be the best choice, as are more mbunas depending on the size of the tank

You can keep pirahnas with some africans, certain barbs and tetras, some bichirs. Ive found that anything which moves a lot like guppies etc. don't seem to attract the attention of africans (mine anyways) but they aren't cool fish. Good luck in your search.
