Ive made my own SW food for a long time with great sucess.

Now looking to add some vitamins to some FW pred diets to make sure that I am rounding them out as well.

Just interested in what everyone uses and why.

Please let us know what you use, how you use it, how often, how much etc.

Be generous with details.

One thing that interests me is soaking...how do we know that the nutrients are getting in? Ive thought of dehydrating shrimp etc and rehydrating them in vitachem etc.

Let me know your thoughts.

How frequently do you do waterchanges?

What sort of changes have you noticed since dosing vitachem as opposed to before?

Dosing the tank water is a waste of money, fish cannot absorb most of the nutrients via the water column. That is precisely why commercial fisheries supplement the diet, it's far more cost effective, and far better for growth, disease resistance, & overall survival of the fish.

I'm quite certain that the Boyd brother$ would be very happy if everyone was pouring Vita-chem into their tanks each week.

I too am interested in this topic as I raise most of my fish from baby size and want to make sure they are getting the proper amount of nutrients they need to grow large and healthy.

Vita-chem is good stuff and my fiah simply love it. Waste of money to does it into the water. I soak my prepared foods in it for about an hour before i feed. I also soak pellets in it overnight. I use vita chem for fresh and vitachem marine for my salties. Mazuri also makes the best vits on the planet but you will pay for it.

It's also a waste of money to soak pellets in liquid vitamin supplements, unless one is feeding low quality pellets.

If you are referring to their products that are already encapsulated with vitamins, then that too would be a waste of time & money.

What's everyone's thoughts on soaking...Ive soaked foods in vitachem and selcon for saltwater forever...but Im always wondering how much good it really does.

How much is really "soaking in"?

How much is just washing away as soon as it hits the water?

This is why I am wondering about using (or making) something dehydrated to soak up the vitamins for feeding.

Krill maybe?

Thoughts?
