Just wondering what the actual scientific name was in this episode. They seem to have a goliath head but stripes of a vit. Have we seen this one in the hobby yet?

Which episode? i've seen a episode with vittatus in it and an episode with goliaths in it...... in the vittatus episode they swam in large schools and ate similar to pirhana, and in the goliath episode he caught that large one that bumped its head and never recovered and he gave it to the village for food.

I have a hard time seeing the difference between brevis, forskalli, and vittatus... I remember seeing a vid of a large vatf in a home aquarium but it had the head of a goliath that reminds me of the ones in the rivermonsters vatf episode. I cant find the vid but it seems all the vittatus vids i find all have rely small jaws. Im looking for the one with the bigger jaw

What you're looking for is the Zambezi variant. They're from the eastward flowing rivers south of Tanzania. They come in on occasion though they're not nearly as well known in the hobby as the Congo variety. When they come in they're normally more slender than the Congo fish and have less vivid colors, though they will grow as large and develop colors as nice or better than the Congo fish. They are also more likely to develop yellow fins than the Congo fish.

3 episodes that im aware of that have atf footage. 1 of the 3 episode was actually about the Goliath.
