I am planning on a wolf fish. This will be my first wolf fish so I am planning on starting small. I want a small yet aggressive wolf fish that won't be startled easy and won't be too skittish. Are wolfish prone to any diseases and are they hardy fish? Thanks for any suggestions.

I am also very interested in the Hoplias Malabaricus but wanted to know how big these guys get on average and if they were hardy and aggressive. What is their common name as well?

Red defo mines fine holds its own in a tank with much much bigger fish , brilliant colours aswell

AKA common wolffish. They are the most boring species out there since they are practically living logs.

I would recommend red wolffsih since they are very active and they can be kept with tankmates.

not skittish and they are decently aggresive. Tankmates are possible as long as they are too big to swallow and if you can bear the sight of minor ripped fins.

Ok thanks for all the replies. I am getting a red wolf. Although considering they get to about 8" will that be a little tight in my 34 gallon? (36"x12"x18") The thing that worries me is an 8" fish in a 12" width tank may feel a little un-comfortable because it only has a few inches of width.

I'm sure it'll be fine but when 8" it'll prob see off any tankmates due to lack of space
