Using a midas would be more dangerous for the bp but should result in more faders. Using a syn might be harder to pair up but shoild result in more colorful fry. What do you think?

I prefer the syn shape and color, thats just a personal thing though.
I've always wondered why more people haven't played around with both crosses. I personally feel that any project involving back crosses to either parent species is well worth your time, it's all about asthetics though. Which parent do you like the looks of the most?
I personally would love to see more work done with creating a better/fertile parrot type fish, something king kong, or mammon looking. Would also love to see a reliable form of "creamsicle" in parrot fish, Midas carrying that gene are readily available, it shouldn't be that hard. Definitely on on my "someday" list for projects.

I too am surprised that these crosses arent more common. I think I'm leaning more towards a syn x bp just because I wont worry about any deaths. but then again I've always wanted a true Midas. A creamsicle kkp-looking parrot would look nice.

Would love to see a Amphilophus lyonsi crossed to synspila, perhaps back crossed to lyonsi for a little more refinement. Theoretically you should get parrot type fry from that cross, trimacs might make it work better. I believe a certain complex of Amp (midas, red devil, trimac) crossed to synspila will create parrot type fry every time, I also believe lyonsi has a better than good chance of working the same as the first three I mentioned. I just like lyonsi's head/face structure better than trimacs. I've seen two threads proving the Amp X syn = parrot equation on this forum, at the time I wondered just where do killin/kirrin parrots come from? I bet I know...
