Hello saltwater people :D. I am completely new to salt water and no absolutely nothing about anything, but i had been pretty succesful with my fresh water aquariums and i remember someone telling me that if i can succesfully keep my discus fish then i can succesfully keep a saltwater aquarium, i don't know if this is true or not but im willing to find out :). If i already have the the 20 Gal. aquarium but nothing to help my saltwater needs what would i need to set up a nice small salt water aquarium?, and what are some nice small saltwater fish to put inside of it. Anything to help this noob (me) is appreciated thanks :D

i have 4 SW tanks and am afraid to do discus, so whoever told you that LIED

NEED?
salt
water
and fish

live rock is a good thing (1 pound per gallon or so)
a filter? alwasys a plus, any kind will do
a powerhead or two
aragonite sand
and MAYBE upgraded lights and a skimmer if you want a reef tank..

good fish would be grammas, jawfish, firefish, gobies, clownfish, smaller damsels, blennies, chalk bass, maybe a pygmy angel, flasher wrasses

halk bass are some of the hardiest saltwater fish i know, also they are full of spunk like an oscar but smaller and more colorful. But saltwater isnt that hard.

i would avoid the damsels and pygmy angel in a 20g...

to add to big gourami list

you will also need at least a swing arm hydrometer to check your specific gravity (salt level) and a themometer..

just started mine today. that's what i did. bought salt argonite and another brand live sand and set it up with a wisper 30 and penguin 250. it's just circulating right now. i'm getting live rock tomorrow for it.
