hypothetically speaking, what would happen if someone were to release alot of flowerhorns into the wild? would they live and be a new breed in the wild and maybe have an abundance in a few years? just curious. i know it's illegal to do, but just was wondering and i'm bored.

I don't see why not, if the climate is right year round. They still have ca/sa cichlid genes and should be treated as such.
Well if someone to release a bunch of Flowerhorn into like Miami then theres a good change they could spread like Midas and Mayans have. Or even potentially hybridize with local fish.
they would probably do exactly what they did in japan. become naturalized, not pretty, less aggressive, and cross with other cichlids here. the first couple generations would possibly be attractive, but after that they would lose their colors to avoid predation. in the right habitat, if they kept their aggression, i think they could be a highly destructive "species"
Flowerhorns survive very well in the wild, where the temperature can support them. I know I've seen other pictures and articles, but I can't seem to find them. From what I remember they lose a lot of their color after a couple of generations.

Agreed that Green is nice but we should never release fish ... cmon folks!!!
