Thinking of stock for the 125 and since I traded in my female jag I'm trying to figure out what would be best suited to put with my male jag.

I was considering a group of salvini but have no experience with them. I'd like something above "dither quality" fish, and something with some color to it. Any ideas other the the sals or does anyone think they are a bad idea?

Oh yeah, filtration is being asembled very slowly, a wet dry made from a cracked 40 gallon breeder I scored off someone at the storage place for $15 :D. My pump is rated 1500 some odd gph at zero head, system should have a 4 foot head on it when completed, just to give an idea of my filtration as far as bio-load capacity goes.

Eh, not a fan. And this jag doesn't harm plants yet so I'd rather not have the SDs eat them.

Synodontis catfish would be good, they are experts at dealing with cichlids. I'm not sure of the size of your jag, but salvini and firemouth should be good with a decent sized jag, but if he is so big that he can fit them in his mouth, then no. I've had redtailed catfish, polypterus, smaller red devils. Pretty much anything to aggressive I got smaller then the jag and anything to nice I got larger or equal size.

Well 2 of the cutteri in with the jag started courting each other last night, so I need to move those lil punks first :irked:

Yeah, it lets the aggression be dispersed between several targets. I ended up getting some giant danios, 2 female salvinis and moving the Cutteris to a 20L.

Tinfoil barbs get freakin huge though.

i wouldnt reccomend salvini mine squares off with the jag ALOT and the jag is bigger

Well that sucks. I guess I'll just have to see how it plays out at this point. They seem pretty benign so far, even in the 55gal, but I know how that goes.

Very true, honestly i never see my salvini hes a male in a 8x2x2 aquarium and he attacks everything in there. He seems to back stab fish when there not looking, the tail fins getting shredded a bit. I think salvinis are very underated for there aggression. Mine faught my jag for dominance and it looked as tho the jag got the better of the salvini but eventually the jag tired and the salvini won. It is a female jag but at the time the jag was quite a bit larger. Salvinis get quite the set of teeth aswell.

Hopefully the females play nice, goodluck!
