I think my fish has a problem but I havent figured it out. Heres the symptoms I see:

1. Clamped Pectoral Fin
2. Fish occasionally rubs its side on the gravel (Side where clamped fin is)

I dont know what is wrong but Ive read about some diseases and parasites, and some have these 2 things listed as symptoms.

Fish looks and acts healthy, and this doesnt appear to hinder the fish at all. This fish shares a tank with 2 other fish - a pleco and a black ghost knife. These 2 fish are fine. This fish has had this problem for about 2 months or so.

What do you think is going on?

I got salt and I got " Quick Cure ", just dont know if I should use it. The plants and the BGK worry me because Im afraid they may die if I use salt or meds.

What would be your course of action? I dont got a QT tank, but I got a 5 gal bucket I could use if I need to. But I still dont know whats wrong with my fish and whether I should take action.

Thanks for any help

If you have broad leafy plants i would dose the salt at 1tbs per 5g after a large 50% WC. And see what that does. Also I do not think that quick cure will harm your plants. i use it with amazon swords and do not have any prblems. I have also ran salt for upto a month before with them and they did not show any signs of dieing. -----------------i would do the salt and weekly 50% WC's adding salt back to the tank after every WC for awhile and see if it acts any better.

Yeah, I wanna hold off on the meds until its evident theres a serious problem. I forgot to mention the water parameters are perfect. I dont get it, the fish could have a parasite I think.

But would the BGK be alright with salt? I also heard the salt doesnt evaporate and it isnt filtered out, so do you gotta then do lots of water changes to remove it?

I got about 14 plants total and theres 5 type. I got anacharis, some amazone swords, another type of sword plant, some ferns, and 2 unknown plants that are the same type. I got them out of those packages sold as "betta bulbs". I planted like 6-7 of them and 2 sprouted. They are big and grow fast too.

Water is perfect: Ammonia and Chlorine 0, NitrIte 0, NitrAte is 30/40, PH and hardness/softness are both in the neutral. I just did a water change 4-5 days ago. I plan on doing one tomorrow. I usually do about a 25-50% water change about every 2 weeks, sometimes sooner.
