So recently been thinking about all the options of restocking my tank. I currently have a mix of cichlids in there. I feel like when I got this tank I just put a bunch of cichlids in there because it was my only tank, if i had a 55-75 with cichlids in upon getting the 225 I wouldn't have put cichlids in there. right now I feel that I need to take a break from cichlids. and with 225 gallons of water and 3' wide footprint I should have quite a few options.

Been entertaining the notion of creating a brackish tank, but main problem there is availability of fish species vs price vs the price of salting the tank and maintaining/raising the salinity (ouch)

So now I'm thinking of a more monster solution. I've seen people keeping some awesome fish on here in tanks the same if not smaller so to give me Ideas of what I could do,
I want to know what whoever is reading this would do with the space. this will open my eyes as to the future possibilities of this tank.

for the record, I like all fish. and most standard monster fish are available to me (arowana, vampire tetra, catfish of all kinds, bichirs, knives etc.)

Thanks a lot, I look forward to your collective input!

Arowana?? Maby some rays, Snakeheads (unsure if you live in the us the illegal there), datnoids, big clown loach

just a few ideas :)

So I have enough room for an aro? Also I live in Canada, not a lot is banned here, just northern snakeheads (channa argus)

I would love some cats, just not ones that get 4 feet long :P
As for the native tank (totally alien to me), I just moved from Europe about 8 months ago and have no idea how to fish...

thanks for the ideas though! It's great to get the idea ball rolling!

also, besides this the largest tank I've ever had was 60 gallons, so I'm new to monster fish and need to know what would be cool

haven't seen any fahakas available nearby. I already have a small puffer though so I get all that puffer character but still able to have a 225 gallon to spare ;)
Looking for a community of sorts.

Biotope ;)

what are the tank dimensions??

an arowana could definately be on the cards there awesome wish i had a tank ig enoug hto house one

also yeah maby a group of snakeheads, some of the slightly larger species channa aurantimaculata, channa pleuro, channa stewarti

Having dimensions definitely helps choose guaranteed suitably sized fish...

How about some Malawi predatory Haps? They have great color. Tyranochromis/ buccochromis or chapsocromis come to mind. Google these African fish to get a look at what I'am talking about. SOme of the African catfish are cool too. Synodontis Angelicas for one.
