i am possibly picking up a 150galon tank tomarow. stocking plans so far.. 2inch red ear slider, 4-5inch albion chanel catfish. i am not woried about the RES growing quick and eating the fish as he was in a 2.5gallon for the first 2 years of his life =[. so what would you stock it with, that could stay in there for life?

Make it a half water half land tank. But with a raised land portion so you can put alot of nice fish in the "water" portion without them swimming in only 12" of water.

Kinda like this.

S is water.

You get the idea. Cause the RES dont really need ALOT of land. Just some where to bask and hang out. Other then that, they mostly stay in water.

And 150 is pretty tall.

If you want to house fish in there for life I would skip the channel catfish, they grow big(3-4') and they grow fast. Get a bullhead or something instead. Though to be honest, I don't normally like the idea of stocking turtles with fish.

the water is going to be filled to about an inch from the top. his basking area will be above the tank. i have a picture of what it looks like in the reptile section.

VERY BAD IDEA to have the basking area near the top - Turtles aren't stupid, and he will figure a way out, to fall to the floor, doing damage to himself. Happens a lot. That is, given you aren't using a cover.
