hi , ive just recently got a few big tanks all are sorted for breeding but one which im am having in my room i want to be a little bit special its 40 gallons and 4 foot long , its pretty much opposit my bed so it will be the first thing i se when i get up so want it to put me in a good mood haha :D i was just thinking , because ive pretty much got a blank canvas i want to hear what you would do with it any ideas welcome. thanks , chris .

I'd do a low-tech planted tank for mostly bottom dwellers since it's a wide, short tank. Crypts, anubias, java ferns, and java moss will all do pretty well in low lighting (I've grown them with the standard florescent lights before) and are very easy to care for. As far as fish stock, you could do a nice school of cories or some smaller loach species and then some tetras or rasboras or something for some color and movement.

I have a 40 in my bedroom and it is nice looking it is planted and has an African brown knife fish a male/female pair of killifish some small loaches on the bottom and some small dithers it is a nice tank if I could change though I think I would go with 3 pairs of rams 18 small tetras and 4 cories
One other option isa few African clawed frogs or some belonesox

35 exodons and some drift wood.

+1

depending upon what you are breeding, it may be useful as a growout tank for fry

they are great ideas , the only thing is that ive gt a simmilar set up to the ones suggested , i wanted to concentrate on the fish more than the tank if you know what i mean ,,,, would sengal bichirs be ok as i have been readin they requre a tank around 120cm which mine is...still though i may just go with the whole ram or planted idea :) keep em comin please
