I understand this is not a career advice website, But I do respect alot of the opinions here to be factual and honest.
All I read online is go to school for what you love doing. Its not as simple as that. Its hard to make a living on what I "enjoy" doing, ecspecially when there is a limit number of positions available out there.
Keep in mind im trying to go to a trade-school. 1-2 year ass. or bach. degree, so I can then begin in the field immediatly afterwards.
I have done the whole college thing in the past and got an ass. in visual communications but that degree has taken me nowhere. Business's arent looking for more advertising specialists in this economy. So im forced to re-educate.
If anybody has any advise on a good field of study, or maybee a career path you choose that has been successful. Im not too concerned with the pay starting out, but it definatly needs potential for growth.
Im currently in a sales position now. If any of you out there that are in sales, you will mostly certainly agree, its a horrible profession. Its humiliating and Im miserable when I get home everyday.
I do have a felony on my record, but its not drug related or violent or theft. But that still excludes most medical or vetrenary positions.
Any input would be excellent MFK. THANKS!

I seriously reccommend getting training in the IT field. I know you have probably heard all the blah blah blah its the future BS but I can speak from experience. I basically avoided all that stuff for a long time. That was one of the things I enjoyed about the Marine Corps. But....I was forced by changes in the communications field to learn. in the process I got my Net+ certification and doors opened up on the civillian side. Even if you dont work in the IT field these skills and certs go a long way.

Aviation gets my vote 100%. As long as we are still flying, you will always have a job. And there is always room for advances in the field of aviation. Upgrades, Modifying, ordering, Advertising, etc...etc.

Maybe your not looking in the right places. I know a few places looking to improve there advertising areas.

I've been operating my own freelance design business out of my home for the last 2 years. My work ethics and motivation go above and beyond whats is expected every time. My eye for design is unmatched, but I still cant even get an internship. Ive contacted old friends who I went to school with and they are in the same boat, No work in the field. Its not that im not being proactive, But after about 100 no's for positions and internships I have became very disheartened.
This lack of work from minimal cliental with the design business and 100% commission in my sales job has forced me to move back home with the parents after 4 years of being on my own. It sucks, But it truly is the perfect opportunity to save a bit of money and get back to school for a more useful degree.

I was thinking something in the IT field. That is ever expanding and there are probably always open positions. I was also thinking something in the direction of solar panel electrician/ installer. That is going to be the future. But then again central PA isnt the most sunny place.
Most people get their jobs from a friends recommendation, but I have extinguished all those options. I need to work towards a successful future, and nows the time to start.

Thanks for your input guys. School for aviation is probably ungodly expensive and flight attendent is a highly stressful job that I wouldnt enjoy in the least. Man do I wish I could find a full-time advertising job for a successful organization.

What would I go to school for? Well I'll tell you what I DID go to school for, beer and woman with loose morals.
