What would you put in a 40b with a sump?

wow a sump for a 40g? thats pretty extreme most sumps are larger than 40 gallons.

i would go marine and have a mini reef, purely because you have all that filtration you might aswell make use of crystal clear water quality.

problem is the freshwater stocking for a 40g isn't really going to be anything spectacular. you could have a real interesting and amazing reef set up in there, or a few small growing boring cichlids with an overfiltered tank

I agree, I have a 72 gal freshwater tank and I wanted to start something new so I did a 20 gal salt and it just looks so much better, definitely more work but definitely worth it
