I am kicking around the idea of giving my 9" male synspilum my 125. I would like to put a supporting cast in there with him, but nothing that would be a fin nipper, or too large.

Any ideas?

lyonsi, honduran red points, firemouths, nics, all depends on the temperment of the fish,i have severums with my pair and i dont have any problems.

I can't picture a 125 because I don't do imperial, but I would think you could keep a pair of syns with a few smaller cichlids and other fish.

Well, I have thought about the female syn. My concern would be spending some $$$ to get a good size female and then have my male not take to her. I would then be sitting on an expensive fish I don't really want.

I was thinking more of a smaller, less aggressive cichlid.

A 125 is approximately 183cm x 46cm x 56cm.

Green Terrors, Jack Dempseys.. of course you could also try something more rare, I really like Archocentrus Centrarchus, they get around 8 inch.
If you want something a little bigger, but smaller then a Synspilum, you could also try some the smaller Vieja species. Severums are another option.
Really there is a lot you can do with that tank if there is only 1 fish in it right now.

Some Thorichthys!
