What Would You Reccomend.....?

I am interested in breeding bristlenose as a lot of you may know!

Since one of my males died I am looking for a new species!

I want a sweet looking one that is easy to breed!(hopefully not too expensive )

So do you guys have any suggestion? The easy to breed should be to main point! And if you could state a place or two where i could order some!

I was thinking about white seam but i dont know how easy they would be to breed and a lil expensive


I knno i am a newb with plecs! And have way too many questions!

Yes, if you have access to soft water.

how do i test for hard or soft water?

is there anything i can put in to make it soft? besides chemicals? (driftwood?)

You can buy GH and kH test kits at your LFS. As for soft water you can purchase Reverse Osmosis and/or De-ionized water from some LFS' and grocery stores (not distilled). Also, rain water can be a good source.

Driftwood gives me very soft water (although i doubt it'll last forever). Ancistrus dolichopterus is my favourite, but they are definately worth it if you're willing just to make sure you get things right for them.
