So I have some juvenile fish and I want them to grow big. I give them a large variety of foods: krill, bloodworms, flakes, pellets, and sometimes earthworms.

I don't feed earthworms that often as I'm trying to let them reproduce more and get a sustainable population going in my worm farm.

I've had the fish (clown loaches, geo. surinamensis, and a poly. senegal) since late december and they dont seem to be growing much. I have one loach that seems to be growing but the rest of them; not so much. They are in a 210g tank and there are no nitrites, no ammonia and low (<20ppm) nitrates.

All these frozen foods give some vitamins but have low protein and fat. What are some foods that you guys use to bulk up your young'ins? No beefheart pls lol.

Thanks all

stick with the frozen foods: brine, worms, beefheart, etc. Frozen krill, cocktail shrimp, and worms are great for the bichir, if you wanna give him VERY healthy food that bulks him up, feed him Massivore pellets.

Yea he likes the worms. the frozen krill and brine only have like 18% min protein and 7% fat. I'll look at getting some massivore's though while i wait for my live foods reproduce

I wouldn't say anything from hikari is VERY healthy...

Anyway, clown loaches are simply slow growing fish. Just provide a high quality diet and keep the nitrates down and they will grow. Be patient. You have only had them a few months.

My RTxTSN went from 2" to 18" in less than 6 months from massivore.. that's growth typically acheived in a year on these guys.

My bichirs are always fat from massivore.

My clown loaches are BIG fans of Ken's sinking shrimp pellets- and yes, they grow slow.

I feed my fish tadpole and frog bites. My goldfish grew One Inch in a Month!
