What's a good clown loach alternative?

I have always kept CL's as a kind of clean up crew with my monster fish because the tend to be to clever to be easily eaten and I like the playful nature of a decent sized group.

I would like to try something different but with the same purpose in the aquarium, any ideas??

There's lotsa different loaches. YoYo loaches, Zebra loaches, etc. Problem is, they're hard to find at a big enough size to go with big tankmates. YoYo loaches are awesome.

Try red tailed botia. I got 1 in my monster tank, consisting of a endi bichir, asian aro,oscar, giraffe cats and other doradids. Polka-dots botias are huge too

Ok thanks, I will look into some of them, I see some really nice looking loach that was labeled as tiger loach but I can't find much info on them.

Cool! It was always the endli Bircher that caught a few now n then, I will look into the polka dots too

Tinfoil barbs are great clean-up crew.............and they get big as well

Agreed. These 2 species will copy the clowns in their social antics & mimic the clowns pretty well outside their potential size..before clown loaches, I had a syno cat collection. Active & a gd cleanup crew aswell
 
Am I the only one that likes/prefer skunk loaches? :/

Yea that does sound cool but I would be worried about battles between them and my leiarius
