whats a good length pole for big fish?

My medium pole broke last year on a large carp and im gonna replace it. Whats a good length pole for large fish?

Well you should probably specify what kind of fish. Because reeling in a big walleye is a lot different then reeling in a big salmon.

Im looking for a good overall pole. I have my 3 other poles for bass, and walleye. I live in albany ny so walleye arent huge really. I just wanna know what length pole is good all around
