for a Trophus that is 2-3" of any kind? i am willing to offer them $20. Is that a good price? let me know. Im on the way up there within the hour. thx again.

"Any kind" is of no help. There are tropheus that can be bought for $8 and tropheus that can be bought for $80. Need to know the variant in order to offer any idea of whether or not $20 is a good price. And, I hope you're planning on buying more than one. Tropheus are colonial and don not do well without several others of their kind.

Well idk the kind. I guess i can try and go take a pic. Schooling fish or not he has been couped up in a 20g tank for months on end now so im thinking giving him a 130g more worth of space couldnt hurt. Infact he is probably used to being a loner by now..

Tropheus duboisi is the most popular and it's price varies from $8 on up to nearly $75 depending on age and whether wild-caught or captive bred. And the price varies even further on the subject of 'captive-bred' by a spawns removal from F0 (wild-caught) parentage. The further away from CB, the less the spawns are worth (ex: F4 or F5, etc.)

Here are the main known species:

Tropheus annectens
Tropheus sp. "Black"
Tropheus brichardi
Tropheus duboisi
Tropheus sp. "Ikola"
Tropheus moorii
Tropheus sp. "Mpimbwe"
Tropheus sp. "Red"

...other names emerge on the market according to the coves or villages near the collection points as descriptions of new or different color variants.

Preciate it Oddball. The guy ended up wanting like $40 for it so I decided not to do anyway. I couldnt get a pic but he was a goldish/black with like a red collar right behind his gills. Looked pretty but too much for me.
