Well somehow in the wild they manage to survive on nothing but live food..... but they miss out on a lot in the aquarium where live foods are not gut-loaded with plant matter or insects. Pellets are a good choice as a staple.

Pellets are guaranteed nutrition. Live foods will bring out natural instinct.
I think bugs, worms and feeders are great. If you can properly gut load them, probably better....but that is a whole lot of effort for minimal return. Good quality prepared food should be used as a foundation.
