I have a 12 gallon tank with guppies, 1 clown pleco and 1 catfish.

My niece introduced 3 new guppies into tank without quarantine and they infected all my fish and all but 1 died.

We took everything out of tank, sterilized or tossed and cleaned everything. We added more water, made sure it was still cycling and added more guppies. That was yesterday we added. The only thing we didn't move was the sponge filter.

Now, all these guppies are showing signs of their fins being torn/frayed. And this was overnight!

I checked parameters and the ammonia is free but I noticed a little nitrites in there today. I am doing an immediate 75% - 100% water change in their tank.

I took out the sponge filter and can put a fresh cycled one from a clean tank. What shall I do with these guys? Any help appreciated. (Oh, I use double salt 2tbls per 5 gall)

Salt. Too much of it, tank probably not cycled all the way, and they are GUPPIES. They'll either die off or breed like crazy.

After reading some, I hear that water changes are a must for this kind of thing, if it is fin rot. How much and how often? 12 gallons, so do I do 3 gallons once a day?

your fish might be fighting in the night.

3 of these fish died today and the rest don't look as though they will last long. I guess my only choice is to see how they are in the morning after their meds. If they aren't ok, I will have to euth them and sterilize everything...heater, filter, tank, etc.
Their water params are perfect and salt is very low.
