Whats good method to treat fin rot??

Can some one give me a good method on how to treat fin rot, i have a 75 gallon aquarium with convicts a JD and a GT. My JD's tail is has tears in it at first i thought it was just due to fighting, i treated the aquarium with Melafix for a couple of days and his fins haven't improved. My ph is at 6.8 ammonia 0 Nitrites 0 and Nitrates .5. My tank is not over stocked and i always make sure not to overfeed. Any suggestions on treatment?

Are you sure this is fin rot? Can you post a clear picture. There are several good meds you can use for this but I'd like to see a pic if possibile. API Fungas Cure is effective against fin rot. Do a 50% water change and wate 30 mins after using any declorinator before adding this medication.

Started treating with API fungus cure would it be a bad idea to use melafix along with this medication?

Leave the Melafix out.
