Just trying to get an idea of what is the best way to make your wet/dry to perform as efficiently as possible. Im trying to see how to make mine just do more w/o adding more filtration. SO LETS HEAR/SEE EM

Ill go first

2 Hydor Prime Media Fine Floss right where the water pours out of the hoses.
1 Coralife Pure Flo Filter Pad
1 Aqua-Pure Carbon Pad
Petcetera filter floss-Under drip tray, above bioballs.

On my 100g I have a DIY wet/dry that I built out of a set of sterilite drawers -

In the top drawer I have 2 coarse sponges layered on top of a 2" block of filter floss.
In the middle drawer I have about 2 gallons of high surface area mini bioballs
In the bottom drawer (mostly submerged) I have about 8lbs of lava rock.

The media in each drawer sits on top of a sheet of egg crate to prevent any obstruction of flow.

here is mine. 75 gallon sump, lots of prefilter (padding from a fabric store) and tons of bioballs. I think I'll add some more stuff in the future. Basic...and works very well.

real basic-
filter floss
1 gal scrubbie pads
2 gal bio balls
heater
thermometer
coralife UV 18wt

I have 2 gallons of bio balls, and for the pre filter pad above the bio balls I used that egg crate bed padding. I have tried several materials to get a good pre filter to keep the water clear but they never seemed to keep the water crystal clear. I had an old egg crate bed pad that I was throwing away and decided to try a piece of it. After 1 day my water was crystal clear, it filtered every particle from the water. On a different tank I have two magnum 350 canister filters with the water polishing filter in them and the tank with the wet dry and the egg crate bed padding is just as clear. Try it and you will never look for anything else. It is also easy to clean, just rinse with clean water and put it back in your filter.

Approximately 1 gallon bio balls, air bubble diffuser (foam), filter pad, carbon and Seachem Posguard, both in media bags. Works well for my 72 bow.

2 filter sponge pads
2 coral life charcoal
about amillion bioballs
haha and ohh yeah its
a 20 gallon sump tank
and a bigg asss pump
and umm i have one arowana
and 2 bloody parrots and 2 common
plecos just temporary
until i get my heater back
