I plan on selling off all my large fish and starting a 125g planted community tank. So what are they worth?

All fish are in excellent health.

9" Tigar Oscar
9" Jag
9" Clown Knife
13" common Pleco
16" silver Arowana

What kind of community are you planning? Just be careful you won't get bored and want your fish back.

13" common Pleco free
16" silver Arowana a buck if you get lucky

imo, planted tank would look nice, how bout adding discus in there !

I have hard water with a PH of around 9.0 I dont think it would work to well.;)

I agree with the prices. That's about right. But I think you could sell the pleco for $10.

I wouldn't pay that much for a jag...but the prices are pretty decent. With fish like those I'd rather think of selling them to someone who will take good care of them rather than try to squeeze an extra buck out of them (don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to insinuate that is what you're doing)

If he was to sell his 16" Arowana for a buck, as you put it, why would he be lucky?

Is it do to the popularity of these type of fish not being so uncommon amongst MFK enthusiasts or hobbyists in general and most everyone has at least one in their tank. They can't be that undesirable as far as a monster sized fish.

Granted those who usually purchase these fish have a massive undertaking in providing proper care and nutrition and a suitably sized tank (250 gal. minimum) as can they grow to 48" in the wild and 42" in captivity. I've seen many of these in Oriental restraunts and they're pretty cool fish. I'd have one myself, but I just do not have the room for a 250+ gal. tank in my house at the moment.

The open market sells mediun sized (5 to 7 inches in size) Arowana's, for as much as $80.00. Selling it for a buck vs. $80.00, especially at 16" seems ludicrous. Granted the OP may not have great amounts of overhead, like a commercial vendor, but come on, lets be realistic about a worthwhile resale price on the Arowana.

I assumed that "buck" meant $100 in this case, but I may be wrong.

Every time someone puts up a Silver arowana in the classifieds it rarely gets sold or if it does then it's rather cheap. Everyone has silvers their not worth that much at all. The reason their sold for sooo much just blows my mind.

Big fish are hard to give away in Michigan. All of those fish are extremely common. Better to research your fish then go from there. I had a hard time selling an L-14 sunshine pleco and 2 large red hook silver dollars.
