Menifee, socal
I just picked up my first saltwater tank an 80g. I came with two fish that I am going to sell as I cant put anything in with but my problem is I don't know what to ask for them and was wondering what you guys thought they are worth.

The first one is a big Volitan Lionfish, this guy is about 12 inches.
The second is a Yellow head moray eel and I would say is about 24 inches but this is a guess as I cant measure him.

What do you guys think?

100-150 for the Lionfish, 50-90 for the eel(probably closer to 90 since it's so large).

Those would be pretty fair prices, although you might get more for the Lionfish depending on it's scarcity where you live.

I would be amazed if you get more than 75 for the Lion. The eel I'm not really sure one, but you might as well try to sell them for the prices listed by Clift and go from there. If you try to trade them in at an LFS you won't get much at all, proly 50 total at best.

My LFS would only take them as a donation so I would get nothing which I wont be doing lol.

Get a new lfs...if that is your lion, it is looking gorgeous for its size.

In addition those eels can be a little on the pricey size, and yours looks good.

I would have given you a trade in for at least $30 on both if it was my LFS. I would have flipped them for $75 before you had left the store. :D

Yeah the pictures are my tank. Only had them a few days they have been fed on goldfish for years by the previous owners so I am surprised how they look.

Yea, he looks pretty good. Could be better, but is a good size and looks to be a little old.

When they get that old having fins that nice and that translucent isnt very common...at least not around here, so congrats.
