Hi Guys,

I have 2 canister filters available, one is a fluval 305 and the other one is a Reena XP2, not sure which one to use and what to put on it, so the question is, whats on your filter? (Right now I only have the Fluval with carbon, bio rings and amonia flitering pouches)

Thanks

i have 2 fluvals 405's on my 75 gallon stocked with 1 8-9" jack dempsey and a 4" BN pleco

the bottom trays in both filter are filled with a small bag of carbon and purigen. 1 of each in each tray so 4 bags of carbon and 4 bags of purigen. and the rest is filled with ceramic rings.

i might of gone overboard.
:ROFL:You can never go overboard:grinno::D

I have 3 Renas...2 X3's and 1 X4
all have 1 chamber of carbon mixed with zeliolites (cant spell) and the rest of the chambers are with ceramic rings and sponges. i also keep ceramic rings/sponges and bio balls in my sump:D

I do not use carbon. My XP's have the sponges in the bottom, a single filter pad on top. And the rest is filled with Etheim media.

If you can, use both filters on your tank.

This probably should be in the set-up/filtration forum...

I have 2 Fluvals (404 and 405). I have Carbon, Ammonia Remover, Peat, and Ceramic Rings in the 404 and the 405 only has Carbon, Ammonia Remover, and Ceramic Rings

carbon is a waste of time unless you change it every 4 weeks

efimech on the bottom then efisubstrate pro i only chean the filters every 6 months

I agree with T1karmann. Carbon is crap. Its only good for 21 days after getting wet. If not changed out regularly it will leech back collected deposits into the water. I only use ceramic rings in all my filters. 5 FX5, 3 Rena XP3, 2 55g wet/dry, 30g wet/dry

Moved to Setup and Filtration, you might get more repiles here ;)
