Whats proper procedure when buying or selling stuff to people?

I've never sold anything in my life and I don't know the steps on how to do it.

I wanted to sell a few of my things but I'm not sure of how it works can someone give me basics?

When they say local pick up does that mean that people go to their house and they buy it or does it mean just within the city limits and they meet in a public place and cash and carry the item?

How do I ship items?

How to deal with people if a deal gets out of hand? I'm only 16 I'd prob get my ass kicked if I said anything wrong during a deal lol.

Whats the safest method to sell stuff locally? Im such a noob. :cry:
 
When they say pick up only that means you go to them. They may choose for you to meet them at a place, or the may choose for you to come directly to there house for pick up. It basically means they are not going to ship the item. For shipping all you do is get your item boxed up prior to selling and take it to the post office or shipment place (ups--fed-ex--dhl-etc.) And tell them you want a quote on shipping the item. If they ask where it is going pick a state that is the farthest away from you so that everyone inbetween is covered. And about things getting out of hand during a meet that is why you must allways have your nina handy. You know nina (aka the heater). :naughty: But really if you have decided on a price before hand then it will not be a problem. And if you are going to make a offer then that is all that it is. You look at the item and then make a offer if they say no then you say thanks alot and walk off. simple. I have never had anyone get out of hand with me ever. -----hope that helps.
 
Thanks that explained a lot, but don't you feel a bit uncomfortable if they go into your house? idk I guess I watch too many movies
 
i usually talk to the person on the phone before hand so if i get a weird impression when i talked to them I might have a freind over at the time they were to show up. And seriously I do have protection items in my house for the just incase ,cause i watch movies too. If you are 16 then have your parent there with you. Some people might think it is stupid but the news is filled with stupid happenings everyday.
 
Yeah, have your parents there with you. I personally am not worried (but I'm a badass....:grinno:). My wife, however, won't meet anyone without me there, and I won't let her.

for pickups it's never a bad idea to have someone go with you... this is for anything. Strange world, strange people. I have done several "I have this tank that's got some fish in it and we are tired of it" deals, and I have met some weird people. Always nice, but could have easily been not so much.

Better to ere on the side of caution.
