whats so cool about lungs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
LF are big and beautiful fish and have a very interesting physiology.

For example, the SAL has very nice shades of black and grey. The male develops structures on the pectoral fins that work like gills in reverse; they release oxygen into the water to supply its young with it. This oxygen he gets by breathing it in from the surface. Isn't that cool?

they are fish that have survived since the age of dinosaurs some 150+ million years
they have survived a continental breakup, several ice ages and mankind
their teeth have fused into 2 plates
it is speculated because at least one species has the correct gene it can see into the infra red range of light
they use weak electric fields to find prey
thier pectorals are loaded with chemorecptors to help locate food
and some can deliver a devastating bite that can remvoe bodily parts
need more?-Anne
