fire eels are peaceful.
have a nice coloration compared to other eels
they can become very tamed where you can hand feed um
they grow big and fat

I love the Spiny Eels. They are fairly easy to keep, they get along with most fish that can't eat them, and they are very personable.
Problems: If they are with voracious fish, they will have a hard time competing for food. They grow slowly, so a Cichlid that works with them now may outgrow them and eat them. They are very tough to get on pellet foods.

I love my fire eel because he's pretty intelegent ,easy to hand feed and in my humble opinion he look's fabulous 
just exactly how slowly do these guys grow? just curious.im sure they arent an option for me at the moment but thought id ask any way.
Mine is about 2 year's old and he's about 19"/20" now , not sure how long untill he's full grown though .
