Although ive always thought lungfish were a very different and interesting fish, ive never owned one and always wondered what made them desirable. To be honest I dont think many buy them for looks so im guessing they must have some personality.

Someone want to enlighten me? Im always looking to learn more about oddballs!

I think they are beautiful. They way they swim, eat, play. It is just a blast. Her is a little video and picture of mine for you. They are a TON of work and eat a TON of food. The joy is watching their bite and admiring how massively powerful it is, among plenty of other little nuances. Oh and they get over three feet (WAL) And HUUUUUUUUGE!!!!!!1

Are they escape artist/risk? Cannot have anymore that do not want to stay in the tank.

I have tested the limit with mine and he stays in the tank. I have left the lid open. They are pretty content when fed...lol

ive never had any try to jump out before.
i love em cause of their character.
theyre not all lazy like many state.
mine comes up to te top when im around the pond.
and he did the same when he was in my tank.
theyre such fun to feed!

when i got my lung, he was hiding under a giant airstone in a 10g tank with a bunch of jack dempsey in it...grrr.... anyways, he was just so cute and i felt bad for him. i didn't know at the time but most of his legs were bit off and the tip of his tail was missing. i was told i could keep him in a 30 g..yeah, right!! i like watching him when he's in his hunting pose going around the tank. he is a pretty funny eater too. he looks comical when he swims along the bottom and uses his little legs to walk. just don't stick your hands in while he's hungry. lol.

I was looking into getting one, but am unable to house it at maturity. The fact that they can take off chunks of your finger always appealed to me...
