I'm not trying to get flamed but educate myself I see all of hype around loaches.
clown loaches in particular so was just curious why everyone was so interested in these fish

I don't keep loaches because I only keep SA fish and mixing fish from different areas of the world is a huge pet peeve of mine, but Clown Loaches are just fun fish. It's really cool the way that they congregate and are almost always active. A big pack of CLs will really make a party out of any tank.

I keep berdmorei loaches (tiger loaches) and the interaction between them is fun to watch. Thay chase each other around the tank like darts clicking and clacking all over the place. That and they look awesome to me. Never kept clowns but i've heard they have funny personalities.

  1. fun clowning around personality
  2. sleeps on side at night next to each other
  3. plays dead
  4. swims as a swarm
  5. fights among each other for food, makes clicking noises while feeding
  6. active swimmers
  7. tolerant of others, even if attacked still not shy
  8. slow growers
  9. not choosy about food

Its all about the personality

Here's an example, I pulled off YouTube, as to why CL are awesome

Walked by the loach tanks for years and years at the lfs thinking nothing of these creatures. Once i witnessed a group of large clown loaches swarming with all the antics, i was instantly hooked and now couldn't imagine my tank without them. Been thinking about adding a group of botia histrionica to my clowns, can't wait! Had these guys before and really regret selling them! Just might have to go through the long process of growing them out again, which takes a while like most of them do
