I want to buy acouple of these tanks to keep different group of the smaller hemichromis to keep the sp pure, cause they always croo breed in my big tanks, so im wondering what the best one to buy, im worried about the companies dicontinuing the product and not being able to get filter pad for it, that would be my greastest concern i guees, any help would be great.

It'd better be a cube 96"X96"X96".

Actually, I'd go 96x96x48 with metal halide for planted amazon biotope so that I get pool water ripples on the bottom. And a big driftwood. That would be sweet.

On topic:
I think cubes are better for nano reefs because they have integrated, vho lights. You might be better off with 20L glass aquariums and HOBs or something more fancy, and it's easy to get polyester pads to replace name-brand filter pads. I don't think that's anything to worry about.

I didn't see a choice in the poll that was " 'cubes' are the worst thing ever made to house fish". You are better off buying an empty tank and then buying the extras separately. That way you are in control of the quality of your fish's environment. Ten gallon tanks start at nine dollars and there are hobs with bio-wheels that are perfect for that size. Btw, I would never settle for a hob that did not have a bio-wheel. Anything less and you would be asking for 'mystery die offs'.

i dont know unless they changed alot from when i had them, bio wheels r the worse filters, they work for about a week if you lucky they just cause problems, and i have been in this for about 20 years, i always thought they where a good idea, but your the 1st first person i ever heard to say something nice about them.

They beat regular hobs hands down. You have to keep the hob clean though. That means taking it apart and actually cleaning it, not just the filter. If the wheel is not turning, then that means there is too much build up around the impeller or the pick up tube.

have they got new ones out now, see i have been disappointed by alot of the new idea that have come out like the tetra tec filter, that is a pos product if i ever saw one, , but i will give the bio wheel another try

I have only tried Penguin filters. I have three, but one stops working sometimes. It has clearance issues from the intake pipe. You will want to have a wire pipecleaner brush or one of those brush balls on a string for when the intake tupe needs cleaning.
