Canopy? My jardini got spooked last night by the neighbors kids running by the tank and almost went through the glass top. I want a way to secure the glasstops without it being an eyesore. Thanks.

This is just me, but I haven't found a secure way to prevent escape in a way that isn't unsightly. For example I've used combination of canopies in which pieces of plastic and duct tape cover gaps...for heavy fish that can knock lids open you might have to use heavy items and it probably won't look pleasing to the eye

I was thinking a DIY heavy wood canopy with no glass top. Instead of having the back of the canopy open, just drill a few holes just big enough to pull cords and canister hoses through. Probably would have to put some type of water seal on the wood to help with the moisture.

wats wrong with duct tape?

use those ratchet straps.

nail your fish down . no sorry didn't mean that can you not use suckers on the inside rim of your tank

This is an utter and pure idea and i have not tried this. 3m makes those hooks for decor in clear color if u put one on the lid with the hook facing towards the back and one on the rim of the tank facing the top you could rubber band it and these things hold weight quite well. Easy to remove rubberband for feeding and maintenance. Should atleast prevent the fish from just flinging the lid open in a jump. As for the back of the tank ive always used black duct tape holds well and black tape is not an eye soar.

I have a makeshift top that I built. It is made of 1x2s and fiberglass screen. Built a fitted frame and stapled the screen with a hinged access door. The screen isn't real tight so if/when my silver jumps the screen gives a little slack.
