argonite crushed coral, and pool filter sand is how i do it

It takes quite a bit of crushed coral to make a big difference, but if you need some PFSand is very cheap and makes a good combination. PFS is amazingly sturdy and does not cloud easily and is smooth enough for sensitive skinned/scaled fish and bottom feeders..

I changed out my play sand for colorquartz with most of the fish out of the tank. There were a few catfish and babies still in the tank and they all made it. I just scoop out all the sand and replaced it.

With gravel, I just use a cup with holes cut/drilled in it to let the water out and then scoop away. If the fish stay in the tank while adding the sand, I would rinse the sand before adding it to the tank. Other than that, just put it in the tank. Nothing to it.

I also use pool filter sand in all of my tanks as well.

ok guys i am getting this pool filter sand tomorrow hopefully home depot will have it. I was just wondering on something else. I live in the city and its hard to come by rocks that are long and flat so i can stack up for hiding places so i was wondering if i could use bricks i am a carpenter and could get new ones from a job, also how would i be able to stick them together do they have some type of aquarium bond or can i just use silicone corking of some sort
