I just caught a big snail that I want to eventually have in one of my tanks. What's the best way to quarantine him? I know to keep him in a tank by himself for a few weeks, but do I need anything else since its wild caught?

Even store-bought snails can have nasty stuff, I wouldn't put a 'wild' one any home aquarium. Any number of 'things' can be inside that shell besides the snail. Idk, I wouldn't take any chances. But good luck with it anyway!:)

Actually, after I 'googled' a few diff topics of wild snails, it seems you really don't have to worry about the quarantine. Unless you drink the aquarium water, eat the aquarium plants, or plan to eat the snail, there's seems to be no reason to quarantine snails.....(I learned something new I guess!)

I 'googled' apple snails, snail diseases, etc. I thought they could 'carry' some of the fish diseases, and stuff like that. But they don't mention any of that. Only if the snails are in water that's contaminated by rat waste, then you can worry. I would just rinse it off in a bucket of water from your aquarium. That's probably good enough. But you'll probably quarantine it for a few days anyway, I'm betting, just because......'you never know', and 'better safe than sorry', are always in the back of our minds when it comes to our fish!:)

Most of the time if you put a large piece of lettuce in the tank, for a day or so, they'll get on it to eat it, and then you can do whatever with unwanted snails. This has worked for me with several types of snails.

alright, he's in quarantine. Scrubbed him down, rinsed him off in several different baths... There were things on him. There were a bunch of these super tiny dot things swimming around, and there was a mosquito larvae.

Here is pic.

Alright, Alright... So I look in my tank this morning and see these two little snails:

WAT

Did this snail REALLY just have babies? I thought apple snails laid eggs? I put the snail in there less than 12 hours ago. I was watching it pretty closely until 8 hours ago. WHAT THE HECK
