Whats The Best

Hey guys looking to set up a tank (55 gallons) And I am takin up on PETCO's 1$ 1 gALLON sO i AM GETTING ALL DIFFRENT STUFF So I dont get stuk with crap in a value pak thing so Wat

1. Wats the best Heater for a 55 gallon.

2. Wats the best Filter, so I can do as litl cleanin as possible

3. A GOOD SUBTRATE WITH THE look of sand, black, but with the rewards of soil.

4. A good relieable thermometer

Links would be great, and keep in mind I am a student with not a ton of money

These are what I recommend:

1.

a) Jager 200W (supposedly submersible only to water line)
b) Visi-Therm Stealth 200W (fully submersible)
c) Rena SmartHeater 200W (fully submersible, great if you go with the Rena xP3)

2.

a) Eheim 2217 Classic Canister Filter - Best Choice for minimal maintenance IMO
b) Rena xP3 Canister Filter
c) AquaClear 110 HOB Filter

3. Flourite Black Sand

4. Coralife Digital Thermometer

Personally, I would go with the xP3 and SmartHeater combo.
