My snowball pleco just died on me today, and I can't figure out why. Here's some possibility.

Disease? my other 4 plecos and fish are fine and very active with no overt or covert signs of disease. I only change the water 1/3 every week unless it is being treated for a disease, which it is not.

my new crayfish that was introduced the day before? the new crayfish is less than half the pleco size, and the dead pleco shows no signs of injury.

killed by my other fish? doubtful, all my other fish are semi-aggressive at most, and barely 1/2 an inch bigger than this dead pleco.

starved? possibility because he's been hiding a lot ever since I got him which was only 2 weeks ago.

Well it's belly is a bit sunken, and the eyes are too (whether that is a post death feature...). It is not uncommon for people to loose Baryancistrus sp. due to having difficulties getting them feeding.

looks like a Hypancistrus sp. to me, I would go with lack of nutrition being the answer. It probably had to had a good meal in a while.

I would say starved...His belly is very sunk in...
