i just lost a bull head last night. i heard a big splash and he did about 10 summersalts in the water and died. and just a while ago had a channel cat di the same thing and he is breathing real hard now. i have a lot of expensive fish in the now i need to know what is going on. please help.

Need more info. What size tank(in demensions and gal? What's in it (species and size)? What are your water parameter (in Numbers). ie. hardness, Ph, nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia. Someone will hopefully be able to help you with this info, or you maybe able to answer your own question.

ph is about 7.4. ammonia os o nitrate is a little high. but it has been like that since i started the aquarium. it is 150 gl. 3 hob filters. xp3 rena filter water is clear gravel on the bottom driftwood. my fish are red tail cat shovelnose cat sun cat. oscar pacu. 2 puffers. blood parrot. whats the deal.
This is odd. I agree with guppy do a post mortem on the bullhead. How is the Channel cat doing? Try a water change maybe 20% or so. If you dont have any you might try an airstone or 2.
Have you added anything new decorations etc? How long has the tank been going? Can you see any discoloration in the gills? Are any of the other fish acting wierd?
none of the other fishing are acting wierd. no new decoratin. tank has been running for a about 5 months now. channel cat looks like he his gasping for air.
