I believe its the same fish. Parachromis Dovii is the most current and correct name however. You might also hear them referred to as cichlasoma dovii. The powers that be are constantly re-arranging fish families.

sounds like a synonym for the same fish...I was under the impression that Parachromis is generally accepted as the proper genus
