Whats the difference?

Whats the difference between a spilo and a rhom? i just brought a purple spilo from a friend and it looks like a rhom.. whats the difference? beside the shiny scales..:confused:
 
i believe the "purple spilo" is actually S. sanchezi. correct me if i'm wrong.
 
i belive rohms are most agressive? not sure about silo's but i belive rohms have to be kept along? i will try to look it up in my book in the AM at 4:45 b4 work. if not i will around 9pm tommro when i get home.

just found out, purple spilo is the name of the fish, and S. sanchezi is the scientific name of purple spilo :D

Aggression depends on the individual fish itself, any serrasalmus species should be kept solo

actually its called a purple sanchezi not purple spilo. Sanchezi are from the rhombeus complex not the spilo complex.

People call them purple spilos too though, that's what they have them listed as at Aquascape. Rhoms get bigger... a lot bigger:headbang2.

its a common name that dealers use(mislead). A purple spilo is a purple sanchezi. Sanchezi are from the rhombeus complex and a spilo is from the spilopleura complex. 2 very different fish
