Whats the fastest growing fish

Don't know if they are the fastest or not but Oscars and Flower horns are probably up there, Oscars grow about an inch a month till about 8-9 inch then slow down to like 1/2 inch a month till full grow, once they get to the 4-5 inch mark they start to really thicken out fast. I just got my Flower horn in January and she was a little 1.5-2 incher and is now about 4.5-5 inch and getting thicker by the day.

:iagree: I am having a congruent experience with my flowerhorn as well! He has really sprouted from warm tank temps (83-85 deg F) and two feedings a day.

You really seem to have two questions, what is the fastest growing fish and what is the largest growing fish? What are you trying to figure out?

Ya same here, I feed her once in the morning, then again in the evening I keep the tank just a touch cooler between 79-81 deg f.
She has already laid three batches of eggs too, but no males in the tank to fertilize so no fry out of it, she has started a lesbian affair with my blood parrot though, one lays then they both guard the pot, then a week or two later the other will lay and both will guard the pot again .
I tried putting some male Cons in to see if either would pair with them but after only 1 day at work (about 10 hrs)they had killed the two smaller ones and had put a nice betting on the last one, so now they only have a cat in with them.

pacu, hands down

when they hit that growth spurt of theirs, you can almost see them grow day to day. one of mine shot up 10+ inches in 4-5 months eating nothing but algae wafers and grapes when i first got him.

If you would be interested, I could give you a great deal on my male. I'm afraid I'm going to have to let him go. I just picked up a Peruvian and a Colombian motoro from Nick at N_E Cichlids (as long as my payment went through) so I'm going to have to kick this aggressive little bugger out! :nilly:

I am just raising my first silver aro, but balton, I might be inclined to agree with you. My silver seems to grow everyday. At first he didn't seem to be growing at all, but in the past few weeks he's really sprouted!

Got to agree with this one. You would swear they grow as you watch.
