WHATS THE LARGEST SIZE DIFRENCE CICHLA CAN BE.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It will all depend on the bigger fish. I have had a 14'' Mono in with a 6'' Ocell before. I also had a 10'' kelberi in with a 4'' orino, I always had different sized cichla in one tank (That's how I roll I guess). It will also depend how much you feed your fish. But, the main thing is the bigger fishes attitude towards tankmates. The best time to add the smaller cichla, is when you do a 50-75% water change.

Power feed the juveniles, and do lots of water changes, and good filteration is a must....and when the there is a difference of only about 2", you should be safe to add them.

if a cichla can fit something in its mouth it will try to eat it sooner or later. so to prevent that from happening keep your cichla full of food and frequent feeding are recomended. this works with my tank to keep down aggression

If there Tem's your talkiing about, they will out grow you current batch in no time......Good luck.
