Hey ya'll...
I got a baby tsn about 15" long now. He will be in 240 gallon tank by next week or so. What I was wondering is that what the min. size of tank for TSN? What I would like to do soon is get a Red tailed catfish and add him along with my TSN. oh yeah... not to forget... my tsn is sharing a tank with 25" long Pacu.

240 is not a bad starter tank by any means, but within a year or two he will outgrow it. Your best bet if you're planning on keeping both a rtc and tsn together is to grow out the tsn to about 2' before getting your rtc as it will quickly outgrow the tsn in most cases. Get the smallest rtc possible, and start it out in a seperate tank. When he's fat enough that the tsn can't eat him add him in. Probably about 1.5' mark. You'll want to look at the footprint of the tank more than anything. a 4' x 10' would do nicely, but if you find your fish hitting close to the 4' mark you'll want to upgrade again. 3' depth would be ideal but is not required. 2.5' min depth is a must if you want them to come to the surface for eating out of your hands.

oh, and with a pacu being so tall bodied you might want to opt for the 3' depth anyway. They grow massive. Just look at ted's pacus.
