What is the best way to get rid of this common issue? when you first notice very small little dots, should you turn up the heat in the tank..for most tropical fish in my local fish store, the heat should be between 76-82, but ich, it should be higher, right? so is 84 or 85 ok? and what about keeping it up a little higher, like 84 so fish don't get ich as often? Is there a better way to treat your tank than with the bright green chemical thats on the market?

what do you guys think? any help

T

TOTALLY wrong section, but turn up heat, add salt and ich cure as reccomended.

What fish do you have? The bright green stuff is malachite green and it is toxic to several species particularly scaleless species. Use salt and heat. Dose a tablespoon per 5g of table salt but be sure to dissolve it thoroughly first before adding to the tank.

turn the heat up to 82-88 add salt do daily water changes until it goes away ;) if that doesnt work get a natural herbal ich cure and include a daily dose of that to the above regimen

salt and heat, old standbys and always the first approach . . . I have also had good results with Ich*Attack, which is an organic med made by Kordon

I have not had good results in the past with chemical meds

you cannot just "turn up the heat" to 85-degrees all the time; it would not stop the ich - - in fact, I think it would just accellerate it's life-cycle - - but it would stress your fish and shorten their lifespans if they are meant to be living at 78-degrees (unless you keep Discus, of course)
