Whats this - Carpintis or cyano?

Got this lil guy last week, please help me id it....I am pretty confused with carpintis and cyanogutatus, explain me differences between them...

carpintis have a bluish/green color to their spots. cyano dont
 
texas' usually have speckles all over them, while carpinte have bigger/more splotchy spots.

it's def. not a cyano, but looks a little diffferent than a carpinte also, so i have no idea.. there's a ton of posts on here on this subject and i don't wanna be one of the many throwing out some answer cause of the blotchy spots just to sound right. good luck though!
 
Carpinitis definitely, love those fish. Just ordered 6 Escondido fry. If I had to wager a guess I'd say male (but I'm so far from an expert that I couldn't jump to reach one).

He's a juvie, that would explain the color. I could be real wrong and it wouldn't be the 1st time, but he looks just like the Escondido juvie's I've seen. At least that's what they said they were. He's got the worm markings on the face and already has decent color. Not sure if the regular carpinitis has the worm markings?
