The white padded room
All right in my vivarium, for my carnivorous plants. I started to notice these little mushrooms growing. Their skinny, white, with brown caps. There were two, then they died and now theres tons of little ones. I suspect after researching on funguses, I take it that what they are doing is growing to miturity, relaesing their spores, and then die.

So can someone just tell me what they are? (besides mushrooms)

Its hard to tell, but if you look in the right of the tank, you can see one of the dead ones.

not sure on your shrooms but I wanted to do a tank like that too.Are those plants not doing to well or is that how they just look. The left ones look dark on the tops. What ones have you found the hardiest?Neat setup.

Yeah its okay, the plant is called a Purple pitcher. So actully the plant is purple, it just looks brown.

The new mature, ones just died and realeased thie spores... I'm waiting for them to grow so I can get some better pics to show.

what kind of plants are you growing, what's the humidity and temp, and what kind of soil?

1. Purple pitcher and a veinus fly trap.

2. Not to sure on that... I need to check that out.

3. Just some mulch, tropical soil, and simple potting soil.

Lovely plants, are they in dormancy yet? The mushrooms are an extremely common fungus that grows from the plants spores combined with the humidity/tank temperatures. The fungus is just a run of the mill brown cap. Be careful though because fungus can be harmful to those beauties you have. Use a weak fungicide spray and try to avoid touching them, you don't want to release their spores.

After knowing the plant (the purple pitcher is common in my home town) I knew a bit of the problem. I used to live on the coast of lake michigan and these grew in my back yard. Extremely beautiful in the summer.
