Im Josh. Been keeping fish for awhile but im starting all over from scratch. Im starting a discus tank. Hit me up with advice/anything helpful and vice versa. Oh yea and im from houston. So if anyone in the houston area into discus most definetly hit me up.

Welcome to the site josh,ive kept discus for quite a few years now and also there are lots of knowledgeable people here to help in every section,weve just got two small rays with our discus and they are fine together,wish id thought of it sooner lol.

aww thats cool! never thought u could put rays with discus. well im starting off with 65 gallon tall tank. It was free anyways with the stand. lol! so i might as well use it. i got some of the filtration. a cascade 1000 that im going to hook up to a maxi-jet 1200 and a aquaclear 300. oh and the canopy was free to. lol. what you think??? enough filtration?

Dont really know much about the filtration you listed as we dont get that stuff over here,il let someone who does know answer that question for you.
As for the discus and rays,well i was the same as you until last week,until i thought id go and have a look at the rays at our regular FS and was convinced it was the correct thing to do and they get on fine,obviously you would need a bigger tank but if your just getting back into the hobby it maybe something thats really sets you off,when you maybe thinking what can i do.
